Sausage and broccoli pasta
Dinnersingredients:
• 1 package apple chicken sausage
• 5 tablespoons olive oil
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 cup chicken broth
• 16 oz frozen broccoli florets
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
• 3 tablespoons butter
• 1/2 cup grated pecorino romano
• 16 oz shell (or any similarly shaped) pasta
directions:
1. bring a pot of water to a boil. add pasta and cook according to package instructions
2. cut sausage into pieces and cook in a skillet with 1 tablespoon of oil. once sausage is lightly browned, reduce heat to medium and add garlic to skillet. cook for 1 minute more
3. add remaining 4 tablespoons of oil, chicken broth, broccoli, salt, and red pepper flakes. cook until broccoli is tender, stirring frequently
4. stir in butter until melted, allow sauce to simmer and thicken for a few minutes
5. drain cooked pasta and return to pot. stir in sausage mixture and top with cheese
